The newest addition to my aquarium. Gold Barbs. As long as I have had fish tanks, this is my first time seeing Gold Barbs, aka Chinese Barbs. A buddy of mine got them first, and actually drove them out here to Vegas from Los Angeles for me.
Judging by how active they were when they arrived, they survived the 4 hour drive through the scorching 118 degree heat without any issues. Of course the AC was on in my friends car, and he had a air bubbler in there too.
The pictures actually do not show how beautiful these fish actually are. Especially since they are in the 10 gallon quarantine tank right now. I will definitely by posting more pictures as soon as they are transferred to my big tank after quarantine (14 days)
I have been having issues with algae, green water in my big tank anyway, so the quarantine period will give me time to prepare. I added some Jungle Val to the tank also.
In addition to that, we ended up redoing the inside of my canister filter. We threw away all the media that was inside my canister and added much better bio balls, carbon filter, and our own 3 stage filter system.
And last but not least, we added a bubbler with K1 media inside. I honestly cannot say much about the K1 setup yet, because it hasn’t even been a week yet, but so far it looks like it is doing it’s job, and it looks cool too! I will definitely be posting updates on the Algae, jungle val, filtration….and of course the Gold Barbs!
At the moment, my big tank has 2 Danios, 2 Molly’s, 2 Black Tetra’s, 1 Pleco, 1 Pictus Catfish, 1 Cory Catfish, and 2 Nerite Snails.
