Its almost becoming a tradition for us, coming to Mount Charleston resort. It’s only like 30 minutes from Las Vegas, and you can see snow here throughout winter. It’s perfect for a mountain getaway, or to just visit and stop by for a quick meal. We had breakfast here and the food was great. I have heard that the food quality has gone down since new ownership, however I had no issues.
This place is popular with both locals and out of towners. Room rates are normally less than $100 per night.
About 12 miles further up from here you will reach Lee Canyon where you can snowboard and ski. (http://www.leecanyonlv.com/)
The inside is very cozy. Of course like any place in Las Vegas, there is a bar with a game room. There is also a small cafe where customers buy hot chocolate and coffee on cold days.
One of my favorite things about this place is the beautiful Koi pond at the front. I actually learned today that Koi fish live in this ice cold water without any problems.
If you are ever in this area, and want a change of scenery, Mt Charleston is the place to go. The drive is not bad at all, and so far I never had to install snow chains to come up here. People also come here in the summer to hike and to enjoy other outdoor activities.
You probably can’t see the drone in this picture without enlarging it. We ran into a person this time who was making a video with his drone of the beautiful mountains and scenery around Mt Charleston. I think we may start looking into drones too.
